I love being a part of a community! I always have, whether it be the community of my family, friends, classmates, work associates, business community, my spiritual community, my volunteer community, my hubby’s hockey community, etc… my community always inspires me. I learn from others and am forever grateful to be included. Last year when my husband and I decided to take an extended vacation, aka rest, I was very concerned that I would lose my community ‘back home’. I’m so blessed that didn’t happen, so far when we’ve returned, we’ve been embraced by all, yippee skippee!

Now that we’ve decided to spend a ‘bunch’ of time in another country I am so pleased to report that I’ve yet again been adopted by this community. That being said, we made a conscious decision to be a ‘net add’ to the community and have become involved in all we can which is incredibly easy as we’ve come across like minded folk who also give back.

com·mu·ni·ty
[kuh-myoo-ni-tee]  – noun, plural -ties.

1. a social group of any size whose members reside in a specific locality, share government, and often have a common cultural and historical heritage.
2. a locality inhabited by such a group.
3. a social, religious, occupational, or other group sharing common characteristics or interests and perceived or perceiving itself as distinct in some respect from the larger society within which it exists (usually preceded by the ): the business community; the community of scholars.

#3 above most fits our scenario best – a social group sharing common interests and perceived or perceiving itself as distinct in some respect from the larger society within which it exists. In our case, most of us have moved to a foreign country, purchased property and live or spend winters here.

As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words so rather than ramble on I’ll share photos of our community involvement.
