I’m blessed to have been lucky enough to determine what I wanted to be/do at a very young age and LOVE it. Still passionate about designing and in some ways more so now than ever before, it’s my advice to everyone “Do what you love”. I’m forever amazed when people say they don’t know what they love.  OK then, choose one thing you’re  most passionate about… still some don’t know and at that I can’t help, or can I?

I’m a visualizer, intuitively, far before it was chic to do so I’ve always held the notion that if I believe enough I can have what I want. I could share so many stories about getting clear about something I’ve desired and then visualizing it… seeing it… and lo and behold getting it. My fave story is how I found my husband… It all started with a list.

The list.

I was single for six years and although fortunate to be asked out a lot I was very tired of dating. I remember going out on a date on my birthday and although it wasn’t a bad date it just left me feeling like if this is as good as it gets I’d rather be single forever… and that simply wasn’t true. Followers of this blog know I’m in love with love so staying single for life wasn’t an option. I was telling a friend my feelings and she said, again, “You make a list for everything else you want, make a list of all that you want in a man”. UGH, “I said no thanks”.

That night as I climbed into bed I picked up a notepad and wrote;

If I had a man in my life today he would…

That day I had gone to a fancy event and wished I had a  companion who would dress up and treat me like a lady so I wrote that down.

The next night I picked up the notebook, thought about my day of hiking and wrote must be willing to throw on a pair of jeans and hike with me.

The next day I was really enjoying my alone time and wasn’t quite sure how to make that about a man then wrote, would allow me my independance.

Another day, I was loving my sweet kitty and couldn’t think of anything else so wrote must love my cat.

I remember other days writing things like must love snuggling or must love cooking with me or must love kids.

What I didn’t do was sit down and write a list;

Must be tall dark and handsome.

Must be tremendously wealthy.

Must drive a ferrari.

Etc.

After about a month I had nothing else to add so I typed it up. I kept it beside my bed and every night, based on what I did that day I’d consider the kind of man I’d love to have as my husband. Oh ya, I wanted a husband, not just a date. I made a few revisions but not too much. I showed it to a few gal friends and they mocked me, “You better be willing to compromise, there isn’t a man out there who’s all that!”

Less than 4 months later I found my man AND in a place I was most certainly not looking for one. He was everything on my list and I mean everything. That was 18 years ago and now we dream and visualize together, creating a life of love and laughter.

Why am I writing a missive about how I met my husband on a Monday where I usually share lovely photos? Well, I saw the Julia Child quote on a blog I follow and it inspired me to ask y’all:

“Are you doing what you love?”

More pertinent to Monday Musings

  “Are you living in a house you love”

If not, why not? My advice, not that you asked, tee hee, is to visualize. As an interior designer I always ask my clients to 1) Tell me what they hate/dislike about their space and 2) to spend some time going through magazines to show me what they love and/or imagine for their renovation or new home. More often than not the client doesn’t do it. OK, that’s what I’m there for but for those who say “I don’t have what I want because I can’t afford it” I say “The best way (and quickest) to get what you want is to visualize… so start clipping images of the space you want and look at them often”. I won’t get into how this all works today let’s just say I believe that visualizing your goals, your dreams, brings them to fruition.

Having said all that my new love, other than my hubby of course, is pinterest.com. I’ve heard about it for awhile but thought it to be a waste of time until I happened upon it via a pic I was posting here from another blog. For me, it is a great place to save photos of images I want to share with clients or for myself. What’s great about it ~ there’s so much actually ~ is that I have all these other folks are working for me, for free! For instance, I type in bedrooms and so many bedrooms pop up that I can ‘repin’ in my own file. OR as I peruse other blogs I can pin photos into my files instead of storing on my hardrive. The first day I ‘pinned’ I was a wee bit worried this could become an addiction a.k.a. time waster as I just couldn’t stop pinning but it did end and now it’s a resource where I go for a quick few minutes in the morning, see what others have added, repin as required and move on with my day. You can check out my pins at:

You may not have a blog or have clients where this resource would assist you but if you have a dream to live in a beautiful home and aren’t doing so now then start pinning! Looking at lovely images of what you want day in and day out will create a vibration that will allow you to embrace and LIVE your dream!

Today was a diversion that I hope you enjoyed and reminds me to keep visualizing too ~ one thing I’m working on and have yet to acheive is to sell a screenplay. I’ve written 4 and will keep writing because I love it and better start ‘seeing it sold’.

Happy Monday!

Inspire someone today!

Not feeling it? Be Kind. Be Generous. Be LOVE.
