Today, May 27th, 2011 marks 16 years since Chris asked me to marry him. I remember the day vividly for many reasons. One of which was that I got on the back of Chris’ Honda Davidson (insert smile here) and rode up Vancouver Island to Qualicum beach. I though it was just a day trip. It was definitely the 1st day of the rest of my life!
Getting on that bike was one of many adventures Chris would encourage me to embark on. Just as I said I’d never get on the back of a motor bike I’ve been encouraged to do so much more. Thank you, my love, for enriching my life!
This is how he got me, sassy cute face!
Actually he had me at… my feet. First, he covered up my feet with napkins when I mentioned I was cold, so sweet. OK, you had to be there. Lori, quick gagging! Later, after dancing into the wee hours, Chris gave me a foot massage, I was hooked.
“Millions and millions of years would still not give me half enough time to describe that tiny instant of all eternity when you put your arms around me and I put my arms around you.” — Jacques Prévert, French poet and screenwriter, 4 February 1900 – 11 April 1977
Three months later, to the day, we were married. Then the adventure really began.
Chris is passionate about so many things and because of him we explored so much together.
Learning we got the Olympics… and then we missed being there as we were onto another adventure.
Together we’ve gone gliding, kayaking, sailing, boogie boarding, stand up paddle boarding, quad riding, horse riding, river rafting, skiing – water and snow and so much more. Oh ya, I almost forgot the time at the Calgary stampede when Chris somehow convinced me to be catapulted into the air, at a zillion miles an hour, then bounced and bounced and bounced in the air by a huge rubber band. Well, all our adventures weren’t perfect!
Never afraid to work or get his hands dirty; Chris is a worker bee.
Building our house.
Renovating our Mexican condo.
Building a house for a needy family in the Dominican Republic.
Trimming the trees at our cabin.
Getting the truck in and out for our client. Only in Mexico, tee hee.
Checking that the chandelier we bought for a client would hold. Again in Mexico. Oh ya!
Fun work, Chris and our son-in-law, Manaen, building an Inukchuk on Christmas day.
They call it work… Chris and his partner, Brian, on a work ‘retreat’.
Working on vacation, before, he learned to relax.
I’m pleased to say that Chris has finally learned to truly relax.
He loves to make me laugh.
This probably doesn’t look funny, but Chris hates cushions and pillows on the bed. So on the days he makes the bed, he does pillow art, this is one of his many creations. Yes, he keeps me laughing!
He’s a proud papa and Kate and Joe are the greatest of all JOY”S!
Indeed, he did encourage under age drinking!
He’s an awesome hockey player, maybe that’s wife speak, don’t know what the guys would say!
He’s a little naughty! Kate check and see if you can see Dad’s note at the Sacre Couer.
He loves giving back. In his words “Being a net add to the community”.
He’s a sport, dressing up, because I wanted to!
I’ve been given the gift of new friends.Since I met Chris 18 years ago my life has been blessed by super great friends and family;
~ Brothers from another mother – Tim, Stormer and Greg, their better halves and even their friends have embraced and welcomed me into the fold.
~ The hockey gang, friends I adore. Their wives have become my BFF’s.
~ There are many folks we’ve met together that are always there and full of love; we’re grateful.
~ He’s embraced my friends.
~ He’s honoured my family; God bless you.
~ He’s given me my family, LOVE, love, love!
~ and the BOUCHARD’S. I wish you all could be so blessed. This clan has brought me so much JOY!
Now, the love of my life has taken me on the greatest adventure yet AND is recreating himself at 50… and beyond. In a little town in Mexico, he’s created a new career and is singing and playing and having the time of his life! I’m glad YOU brought me along baby!
“If you live to be 100, I hope I live to be 100 minus 1 day, so I never have to live without you.” Winnie the Pooh
My heart belongs to YOU, Chris!
You INSPIRE me!
Inspire someone today!
Not feeling it? Be kind, be generous… be love!
