I realize how many people are following my blog as I keep getting asked for more updates. “What’s happening”? people keep asking. So today I’ll give a really quick pictoral update.

Before; there are 2 large openings between the main and upper levels. Chris and I will live on the main and are creating 4 lovely guest suites on the upper level. We need our privacy and I’m willing to bet the guests will want their’s too!

So, we’re filling in those spaces. Having been in the renovation and design business for years, my oh my, it’s all done quite differently in Mexico! These are the during photos.

First there was the investigation process as we had no architectural plans.

Then the demolition began.

A ‘jungle of supports’ were installed to hold up the framing.

This made me chuckle, the wood had a ‘wow’ in it so… improvise they did.

The plastic went down.

The forming and styrofoam ~ less weight than solid concrete.

Then the concrete was poured.

Next step is the fun part, I pick tiles and hire a tile setter! Stay tuned.

We also had to rainproof the roof, so we hired a company to remove what wasn’t required, ~ antiquated cooling systems and such ~ clean it up and adhere a membrane.

We love the ingenuity! Rebar + Blade = Hacksaw

And then there’s the rubble, oh my!

The view that inspires us to get it done!
